Touched By A Legend.
Oak Hills, designed by Ellis Maples, one of the Southeast’s most noted golf architects, opened in 1958 as Meadow Greens. Using the flow of Eden’s rolling hillsides and stunning woodlands, Maples sculpted contouring slopes, naturally draining bunkers and spectacular backdrops – all hallmarks of his course design which relied on one simple principle: “less is more.”

A protégé of Donald Ross, Maples designed more than 50 courses in the middle decades of the 20th century. He was inspired by his father, Frank, a greenskeeper at Pinehurst. His son and grandson continue in the field, ensuring that the Maples’ legacy endures.
Today, more than 50 years later, Maples’ masterful craftsmanship continues to bring golfers to Oak Hills, where his handiwork is evident in the beautifully groomed course. In recent years, as the country club era faded, three Eden natives purchased the facility and began a transformation. Keeping allegiance to the original Maples’ design, they invigorated the course with a more casual ambiance, adding updates that enhance its convenience and playing flexibility. It remains one of Maples’ most challenging courses. To top off your day on the links, our knowledgeable and helpful staff are on hand to assure that you have a superb Oak Hills experience.
